There is no time in the MX1 exam to waste at all... it definitely is a challenging test just time wise... 2u on the other hand I can get done in 2 hours (at a comfortable pace).

5cos(@+tan-1(4/3))=5



drongonski, ur other solution is wrong (i think)
because 3cos -126 would be negative (not in the positive quadrants), and 4sin (anything) can't be greater than 4

You are right. As I have cautioned: 1 pair of answers are to be excluded. In this question, there is a 'repeated root' so I should have one instead of the usual pair of angles; I had an uneasy feeling because of the repeated root; should have easily noticed. Thanks for pointing out.
