Trigonometry - using pi or angles (1 Viewer)

Okay I've been seeing people use pi when doing trigonometric things. At my school we just use angles. Does anyone use angles as well or is my school just special?

radians are more a pure unit of measurement that you HAVE to use when finding areas, differentiating, integrating etc

Use degrees until you learn radians.

It is impossible to differentiate and integrate using degrees for angles, so when you get to calculus in mathematics, radian measure (you know the one with pi) takes over degrees in many respects as accepted notation

For your interest

pi radians = 180 degrees

Therefore

x radians = 180x/pi degrees

and

y degrees= pi(x)/180 radians
