Re: Tsp

im doing it too!
anyone doing TSP who is doing Science(Advanced)/Law like me? :)
anyways on my form i was really specific --> i didnt put "physics, chem, bio"..i think i put..
"human biology - human disease, pathology, physiology, immunobiology" etc etc
and then yeah, that lady Sutira Teh assigned to me this mentor Dr Bob Bao who is from the Pathology Department of the Usyd Medical School and he also specialises in immunology as well which is good! =D in fact i think his major research atm (which i looked up on the pathology website) is something on mucosal immunology....

Re: Tsp

haha dr bob is cool.. funny guy.

i'm not sure how great 1st yr tsp can be with med fac, since it's usually only 3 c.p.
but the first sem tsp project they run is pretty fun. just be aware that you get put into groups of 6 or so. so if you hate people.. then it's not for you.

have fun. btw, physics has one of the more active student-friendly tsp plans.

Re: Tsp

What do TSP students do? Is it automatically granted to all people doing B.Sc.(Adv), or are there further eligibility requirements?

Re: Tsp

You need a UAI of at least 99.90 (I think) and a band 6 in your HSC science subjects. It's something like that.

UAI of at least 99, band 6 in a science and at least 95 in ext 2 maths (I know people who got in without the last though, but that was a 99.95).

i'm sure this has been posted before, but

science handbook said:
to be considered for the program in their first year, students
should normally have a UAI (or equivalent) of 99.00 or higher
and a result in band 6 in at least one HSC science subject area
and/or a mark of 95 or better in HSC Mathematics Extension 2.

The Dean may consider slight variations to these requirements
where a student has demonstrated exceptional performance in
scientific study (eg, at the level of membership of a team which
represents Australia in an International Science or Mathematics
Olympiad).
to be considered for entry into the program in their second and
third years, students should normally have WAMs of 85 or over
and a high distinction grade in an appropriate Science subject
area. Intermediate level entry to TSP is available only to students
who have been enrolled full-time in units of study totaling at
least 48 credit points.
note that 95 in ext 2 maths is an and/or with the band 6 in science subjects. basically it's just so that maths is considered a science.

Yeah I'm doing TSP (first year) too as part of my Sci (Adv)/Comm degree. And yeah I'm in CHEM1901 too (and hating it I might add). Mine is all theory, reading a whole lot of scientific articles and analysing it. But there aren't many valid practicals for my topic (Can antibiotics be used sustainably?) so I guess it's fair enough. We don't really have the skills to perform most of the appropriate pracs.

Was it a waste of time? Yes. Will you get great marks for it? Yes.

Welcome to the TSP program for the Science Faculty.

And who the hell are you, d'Ambrosio? Noone from riverview has intelligence.
