Back to normal talk, estimating out from an established system such as SAM or UAI Calculator will tend to mislead people as they have no idea the exact magnitude of scaling eg a score of 80 is 4U maths =... 90 or 92 or 96 scaled?

... unless the person actually get resources from UAC and finds information explicitly, which is what the calculators do anyway. And if you are not a fan of SAM cuz its a 2005 version angry, maybe you can try the UAI Calculator, they have the new 2007 version.

What an incredible coincidence! You know what? I already use the 2007 version. I do not doubt SAM. I am just using a different variety of sources.

Did the scaling report give you a different scope of scaling than the calculator did with the same marks filled it? If it did, i might wanna go have a look at the report too.

It's interesting how people refer to the modality of scaling as "high scaling" or low scaling" cause in reality most subjects scale down

Well, I cannot put on the scaling of that subject for different marks. It would just take too much time. I think putting average mark is a good indication.

Some people enjoy getting advice and reference from ... people, with brain and common sense. But your brain, common sense, everything is prone to failure as I've learnt. But then calculators are prone to failure as well. So I should just .. go dig a whole and jump in.

My point; I use calculators but my life is (yet to be) not dependent on them.

Ahhh, this thread makes my brain hurt =) I am so lost when it comes to scaling and aligned marks and whatnot. I know/think that internal assessments are modified/aligned/whatever the word is, to make them more consistent(?) across the state. But I just get lost from their. Its all extremely mathematical, and as you can see, I don't do maths. So I'm a touch out of my depth =)
