Naturally fast reader, or did you learn to speed read?

Yeah, out of a dozen other students with 100% no one comes close, second highest section 1 score that i've seen is 89.

sci.girl: You should recieve multiple interview offers if your uai is up-to-scratch. Order in UAC preferences doesn't really matter but I was told that they should be in the top four of your preferences(order still plays no part as the uni's which have recieved applications from you must either offer you an interview or reject you. You will recieve offers early next year and you should be given time to accept or decline various offers.

I'd suggest you look into medicine generally and speak to any doctors you know, etc, try to get some work experience after the hsc. But you should understand medicine is usually a life long career of learning. It takes 11+ years of learning just to specialise in a field. If you have your heart set out for somethine else, i'd think long and hard about doing medicne.

If you still can't make up a mind when you recieve an offer, i'd think about accepting and defering an offer. Then take up gap year to help you explore what you want to do in life.

shaon0: The marks in umat are scalled and moderated each year as it is also determined on the entire co-hort, but the highest mark i have heard of a few years ago is about 284 with the old umat. Highest i heard of last year was about 276ish. Still anything over 90% is exceptional.
Woah....284. Is it out of 300?

tambourine alot of students would give an arm and a leg to do medicine and it seems like your complaining about Qld. JCU is in townsville and it's a beautiful place. Besides, you need to independent and get out of home if you want to become a doctor.

Other pathways' include:
taking a gap year and redoing umat(bit of a gamble)
starting uni and applying next year as a non-standard only at selected uni's
provisional entry if you have a high uai e.g. Usyd 99.95+
going to new zealand as one of my friends has done( MbChb) is accredited in Australia
graduate medicine
doing other allied health programs
etc,

berna007 Unfortunately not, unless you have a high rurality rating or are indigenous.

Wooz: Hey, could you help me please? I'm an International Student and as far as I know, I can only apply to UNSW and UWS in NSW. Where else can I apply in Australia? And do you know how one applies to Otago/Auckland?

And since I'm International, I have to sit the ISAT but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information about that up anywhere...is it similar to UMAT? Easier/ more difficult? What can I do to prepare? There aren't any papers on the ACER site...

And is 89 (Percentile)/ 176 a good/okay UMAT score? I can't judge as everybody on this thread did outstandingly well. I did get 69 in S2...does that affect anything?

And I've had my telephone interview with UNSW but I don't think it went as well as it could've...do I still have a chance or is that IT? ( My predicted UAI is high 98)

Thanks and sorry for bombarding you with questions.

I can understand your skepticism, especially given that it was my first post on this site, but i can assure you those results are genuine. I am well aware that this is far from absolute proof, given the ease of editing images nowdays, but I would ask you to consider whether someone would go to all this hassle to post fake results on a website anonymously behind an alias. Image of my results is attached (if I managed to do so correctly).

As I said in my original post, I'm obviously ecstatic to get such a good mark, especially considering I did no preparation at all, but I feel somewhat guilty given that i have no intention of doing any course which requires the UMAT and therefore robbed someone who needed it of a place.

For those who do not wish to look at the image, the marks for each section were 108, 61, 82. For an overall score of 84 and in the 100th percentile
For someone who claims to have scored so well on a test of logical thinking ability, your reasoning is very poor.

The number of places that universities offer is fixed. Your decision to take the test but not study medicine will have no effect on the other applicants.

Hey, you can also apply to: Monash, University of Western Australia, University of Adelaide, Bond University, James Cook University, Uni of Tasmania.

ISAT is an easier test with a simillar format to the STAT test, it's based on mathematical logic and logic. I know how umat works for an international student, anything over 75%-85% should get you into a few medical schools(depending on the international student cohort) as most have Int-FEE(International full-fee) places. But I unfortunately know little about ISAT, i'll ask around. I thought some uni's accepted UMAT or either ISAT.

Auckland and Otago is a complicated way of getting into medicine, best to stick out of it's way. You must do a B. Biomedical Health Science for one year and then do umat. Then try to get into medicine as a 2nd year student.

Monash: http://www.monash.edu.au/study/coursefinder/course/0040/
UWA: http://www.studyat.uwa.edu.au/undergrad/international/ugicourses?section=getmajor&majorid=142
Bond: application info out in october
Adelaide: http://www.health.adelaide.edu.au/international/
JCU: https://secure.jcu.edu.au/app/inter...ne&p_degree=72010&p_discipline=MO&p_year=2008
Tasmania: www.healthsci.utas.edu.au/medicine/admissions/international.html
UQ: Provisional offers?

http://www.acer.edu.au/isat/
http://www.acer.edu.au/isat/preparation.html
Preparation: MENSA puzzle books, Maths competition papers, IQ tests, logic tests, etc.

Additional isat medicine info: http://www.medstudentsonline.com.au/forums/showthread.php?t=2803&highlight=ISAT

Their's not much out there on it, since their's hardly any international students around who are willing to contribute info.

Thanks Wooz, that was useful. I do have a MENSA book so I'll work from that. I know there isn't a lot of information which is frustrating and my Careers adviser doesn't know much about it either, so thanks again for you help. The questions I looked at (from the ACER website) remind me of Physics questions!

In regards to Auckland and Otago, I'm a PR of New Zealand so it seems like a good idea to apply there as I'll be considered as a local student.

And haha, really, so I should be okay with an 89% but I'm worried about the interview. Will they disregard my UMAT/UAI because of the interview (it was alright but I don't have much to compare it to apart from a job interview for Maccas- which is not quite in the same league as a Med interview).

Once again, Thanks!

It would be so much less stressful if they provided some feedback after the interviews. *sigh*

If I got a UAI of 96.5 -> 97.5 where do you think I would get offers, considering I have applied at every undergraduate medicine course and UQ (I get 2 bonus points at UQ)? Any chance of Monash?

Cheers.

seriously y'all should be proud of doing/considering med...(both my parents are doctors however i chose to do science lol) props to everyone :) and good luck with all applications and interviews. Even though this thread is for umat results thought it would be worth mentioning that your all champions and in case things go a bit haywire theres always grad med!!

Strive to succeed!!

You should get interviews all round. You should expect to recieve an interview from UNSW, UWS, UNCLE, Uadel, UWA. You've got a good chance at getting an interview at Monash, but yeah it depends on this years cohort since Monash is now the only undergrad med school in Victoria since Umelb turned graduate. But yeah your umat is high enough, you should get an interview.

JCU if you are a local/Qld student, but it depends on your application. UQ requires an OP1 in addition to umat. Have you sent special consideration into QTAC?
