I think UNSW is generally regarded better for engineering (at least in general - not sure specifically for software) than UTS. I think the bigger difference between these two unis is trimesters vs semesters and the commute to each of them (for the vast majority of people UNSW is harder to travel to).
Doesn't matter the only thing that's gonna separate u from other candidates (for software engineering in particular) is ur projects.
In saying that I'd probably say UNSW.
Trimesters get a lot of hate but I did one trimester at UNSW and it was honestly better as it lets you focus your attention on less content to memorise at once (memorising 2-3 subjects at once compared to 4).
As Vall said, the commute is worse for UNSW by a lot.
at unsw software engineering is pretty much the same as computer science, all of the courses in the first year are the same, the only difference is that you can get co-op, otherwise just do computer science if you decide to go unsw.
