Is the demand for B Commerce high? Just wondering because if I receive 5 bonus points I get an ATAR of 98.25 and just wondering whether I would get in or not since I'll be competing against other people with higher ATARs + their own bonus points for places in the course.
Thanks.

The cut offs from previous years is inclusive of bonus points. You should be fine, cut off is unlikely to jump up that high!

Oh so you mean the cut offs from the previous years take into account bonus points and so they take into account all the applicants that managed to get in via HSC plus?

Yeah, even though the cut off says 96.70 it's pretty likely that the person with the lowest atar got below 90 and had EAS as well as 5 points via HSC Plus. Because of how that works it actually results in some hilarious cut offs in courses with hardly any applicants at unis with a huge amount of bonus points on offer.

I think commerce is quite popular (heaps of people have comm degrees) finding a job will probably be hard--> unless HDs in everything D:

Pls explain? I'm curious as to how hard it is to find jobs after taking B Commerce.
It's not hard at all. The question is whether you want the job and whether you are actually qualified to do it. "Commerce" is an incredibly broad degree with vastly different - and mostly mutually exclusive - areas of specialisation. Someone with a marketing major can't just expect to waltz into an accounting firm and get a job as an accountant. There may be other roles in the firm that they are qualified to do as a marketing major, but they won't stand a chance of being hired as an accountant. If they only limited themselves to applying for marketing jobs then they will face some competition (especially given the amount of marketing majors for what is a relatively small market) and may struggle to get a marketing job. But they won't struggle to get a job at all. There are plenty of good-paying, white-collar entry-level jobs out there desperate to be filled by anyone, regardless of what their experience is, and a degree (any degree) will stand you in good stead. Getting a job is easy. Getting your dream job is hard, no matter what degree you choose.

UNSW commerce is extremely competitive and popular in demand, but your ATAR with the bonus points should be more than enough :)

Good luck.

With bonus points, my atar should be ~95.4

Plus i'm eligible for EAS because my school is considered disadvantaged. Do you guize reckon I have a chance? I don't wanna internally transfer

ooo. makes me feel better.
I initially thought it was quite hard because a few people told me. "too many people do comm" etc.

yeah, 95.4 including HSC plus. Is it capped at 5 points though? :/
If I remember correctly you can get a max of 10 bonus points at UNSW. 5 from HSC Plus and 5 from EAS. Therefore I think you will have a high chance of getting in

with commerce, if you major in accounting or finance. is the job market good for that atm?
The job market for accounting is pretty wide. There are high-grade and low-grade accounting jobs. If you do the courses for the CA or CFA then you will be able to access the higher end of the accounting market. Just an accounting major will probably only get you into the lower level accounting jobs.
Finance is incredibly broad. It depends what job you are after, but generally the market is kind of tight since the GFC. Every alpha-male cunt and his dog wants to be an investment banker and they can't all be one.
Also you should keep in mind that choosing a specialisation based on whether one job market is easier or harder than another isn't a smart idea. If you don't enjoy what you're learning and have a passion for the job then you won't do well at either uni or in the job afterwards.
