McGrath was also thought to have been overrated at a similar age. Heck, Watsons only 23 - he's got some 12 years of a career left. He is only bound to improve. Also Watson has been quite impressive with the ball in domestic cricket.

That was because Warne wasn't playing either. India had a full strength line-up and it basically proved that the bowling qualities were similar at the time. The Aussie batsmen still plundered the indian bowlers.
Australia was hardly average. We won every game of the WC without Warne or McGrath.
