At my school,... teachers gave out a new assignment on (supposed to be) "moving about" but this has not much to do with it i think and like... i srsly need help with this..

It says i'm to design a devide that can successfully protect a 50gram egg from cracking when thrown from 4.6m above the ground(concrete ground)...

The device has to be under or equal to 25grams in weight and the design has to be complex. Also, the egg must stand upright when it stops on the ground... Oh YEA,... AERODYNAMIC DEVICES ARE NOT PERMITTED TO USE...

from under your name it says your hsc is 2009 - is that right? your fucking around with dropping eggs when your hsc is next year?

we did this in year 7 science. i used a foam cube cut into half with each side having a small groove to fit the egg, and used elastic bands to hold the foam together.
i also added a plastic paper bag as a parachute but the foam worked so well i didn't end up using it. You could basically throw the foam cube at the ground forcefully, kick it around, etc. and it would just bounce around and absorb the impact

you have some pretty lame restrictions and explain what you mean by no aerodynamic devices

Impulse = FΔt = mΔv = m(v - u) = Δp

So delaying the impact force applied (by increasing the time of impact) extends impulse and therefore lessens the impact.
That's one way to go around it.
