Ok, so if my school is around 15-18 and I've been getting in the top 40-50% of my grade for all my subject's except english, where I'm in probably the top 80%. If I completely fail the trials ( my definition is less than 70% personally) , but get 80's, 90's in the external exams can I get an ATAR of around 80 at least. Preferably 83 ish?

Thank you

Ok, firstly calm down and take a deep breath. Ok now that you have calmed down, is it possible to tell what your current subjects are?

Ok I got your subjects: Advanced English, Legal Studies, Business Studies, Senior Science, Biology
These are the subjects you are undertaking in your HSC studies in Year 12 and the thing that you are worried about is that you may 'fail' your trials and that has got you worried. Look if you have mindset on your current studies and have the motivation to achieve the best results you can find yourself on your desired ATAR of '80' or whatever it may be. Be prepared to put in effort to get your cut because that's what you are aiming for, the university isn't going to come after you so you should be trying to compete for the course and no its not too late to get high achievable marks in your exams as most of your subjects are OK and not too rigorous.

Don't stress about your low ranks/marks that you may have received just look at what's ahead of you, I hope you do well with your studies.

Lol, if your school is in the top 20, you can still probably get 90+

True in life, in general. But when it comes to the HSC then sometime you do go beyond a point of no return

Uh, nope. If OP ranks badly and bombs out in externals, unless you go to ruse, you're going to do badly.

Op, if you can rank within top 60%, you should be fine - most schools in top 15 have around 60% with 90+ I'm guessing that top 20 will at least have 60% of cohort with ATAR of 85+

My ranks were ok got within top 10 for three subjects, right on average for one and around 5% below average for another.
