Hi :)

I was just wondering, is it okay to base my creative writing on a character from my prescribed text? So for example, we're given a quote to embed within our creative- can i use it to support, say, a backstory on one of the characters from the prescribed text?

Thank you

Sounds fine to me! But then again, I don't know much .

EDIT:

You could always not explicitly reveal who the character is... just draw parallels, etc.

I would only recommend doing that if it will show you have a better understanding of the module.

For example, I studied Textual Dynamics which involves a lot of postmodern techniques. Thus, incorporating a character from a prescribed (or any!) text could be a witty way for me to use intertextuality.
