I'm not an engineering studies student but:Okay so the VR formula for hydraulics systems is D^2/d^2, where D is the output diameter and d is the input diameter. So if you sub the values in, you should get 6.25, which is then rounded to 6.3 (D)
It's one of those questions where they give you more information than you need. The formula for efficiency is MA/VR, so if the question asks what is the MA of the system, then it would be C as 6.3 X 85%=~5.3. But it's simply asking for the VR, so it's just D^2/d^2I'm not an engineering studies student but:
Isn't 6.3 the velocity ratio of a 100% efficient hydraulic system?
So, is it 5.3 = (6.25 * 0.85) ---- (C)
or 6.3 (D)

You're welcome, any other questions, just postThanks guys for your help =)
