need some help extending my monitor cable, and please dont tell me to move my comp closer.

i've got a second monitor a couple of meters away, whats the best method of getting a cable to it ?

i can use a 5m m/m vga cable or the more commonly found a 5m extension cable (m/f). m/m 5m vga cables are hard to find for cheap.

the extension cables, i'm worried about because it'd end up being about 7 meters from the computer using my current cable then extending it, and having to convert the signal twice would probably result in some signal degredation, which is really important i dont have

any ideas ?

The maximum length varies depending on the quality of the cable, resolution and refresh rate.

at our church, we run a cable from a computer to a projector (VGA) over a 20m cable. cost of the cable was $50 from HT (after discount)

no loss of quality.

If you're worried about cable gender, you can buy a gender changer from Jaycar for like $3
and cables from HT for I forgot how much
But overall, it won't really be that much. (less than $15 all up)
