Hi all, what's the reasoning behind why the solutions isn't (tan x)^2 - y^2?

Maybe I'm missing something but that solution does not seem to be correct. (tany)^2-y^2 should be correct

I think the solutions are right, there's some sort of special rule, but i cant figure out what the rule is

You are correct, the answer should be

$V = \pi\int_{\frac{\pi}{4}}^{\frac{\pi}{3}} \tan^2{y} - y^2\ \!dy$
