Firstly, that is a shockingly worded question. Doesn't even define what x, y or h are and then specifies that your answer has to be functions of x and y in terms of h.hey guys, I stuck in this volume question. I don't even understand what is it talking aboutplease help me with part a.

Firstly, that is a shockingly worded question. Doesn't even define what x, y or h are and then specifies that your answer has to be functions of x and y in terms of h.
Basically, there's a linear relationship between h (the height) and x or y (length and width respectively), so you can write x and y in terms of h, i.e. x(h)=ah+b, y(h)=ch+d. Now you can substitute in the values you've been given. When the height is 0, i.e. at the base, the dimensions are 8 by 5 and when the height is 10 the dimensions are 4 by 3. Substitute those values into the equations for x and y and you'll get the answer.
