As far as I've been told: Simon Fontana, Jackson Fan, James Hoare, Lauren Hendry-Parsons, Angus McFarland, Katy Fernandez. This isn't definitive though, so please don't quote me.

Fuck yeah, two Liberals on board, take that socialist alternative cocksmokers!:D

The board members in order of votes were:
1. Lauren
2. Katy
=3. Simon
=3. Angus
5. Jackson
6. Marc

This isn't counting the stacked votes, but I doubt they'll change anything, and if they do it'll only be 6th place.

so he isn't prez? or he is?

when do we find out?
The president will almost definately come from those in their second year of board membership, although there isn't anything that says a first year can't be put up it's extremely unlikely they'll have enough support, although Sam Crosby did manage to get secretary in his first year on. Angus won't be president when they vote next year either, Lauren will because imo she has the respect of everyone on the board (at least from those that made it on this year).

When people remove slogans such as:
Deport the Liberals, not the refugees!
NO VSU!
VSU=Silence

On another note, the after election party was an absolute cracker, great heckling effort from the Liberal/Engineering side of the room. Oh and I had Techie and greeninsanity say hi to me yesterday.

Well the two Labor candidates got on too :)
Haha yeah congrats to them too:) Looks like a very balanced board this year, two from each right, left, and centre.
Just to avoid any confusion, the socialists I was referring to are the actual socialist club that have nothing better to do with their time than stalk us, rip down our posters, steal our pamphlets and stand near us shouting about how bad Simon is because he's a Liberal. You'd think they'd have something more constructive to do like run their own candidate:rolleyes:

EDIT: And I found out last night Steven Flew was basing his campaign on free hugs, if only I'd known earlier I might have preferenced him third :(

I also have it on very good authority that all the "violence" that Simon has been accused of - his people supposedly hitting a leftist, the anti-gay, anti-women chalking - was actually done by the LEFT in an attempt to discredit Simon. Thing is, if it really was Simon, why wouldn't they call the police?

The situation so far as I know involved the leftist chick (I'd hesitate to use that word, they're all so masculine) pushing one of the campaign members from behind several times, then the member in question turned around and blocked the attempted push on the last time, and they then cried abuse claiming that this member hit the chick.

The sexist and homophobic claims are complete bullshit, and if anyone seriously believes that it was someone on the campaign who wrote "Vote 1 Simon, send women back to the kitchen" or other similar things they need serious help. Aside from that, I hardly see how calling use Liberal scum and thereby persecuting us based on our political views is any different to sexism, racism, homophobia etc.

The sexist, homophobic and other claims I think were published in one of the university's independent online publications, but those involved in publishing the claims have been spoken to and they should be withdrawn within the next day or so, if they haven't already.

EDIT: The publication is http://idmedia.org.au/ . It seems that they haven't removed the comments, but they have added Kyle's response.

One of Angus' boys tried to harass me at the Con yesterday. I gave him a good telling off in front of everyone, and told him to go back to his own damned campus, because the Con doesn't want him.

I think it's important to recognise that with the exception of Simon, none of the candidates had any ideas, much less solutions to offer the Con. Approximately 5% of student fees paid to the four student organisations comes back to the Con - the other 95% pays for initiatives on Main campus. All they care about is preserving the status quo, so they can continue to fund evil cults like Falun Gong and the Cross-Campus Women's Network at OUR expense.

Ever since I got involved in first the SRC election, and now this one, Con students are seeing the true faces of our representatives. There is a very good reason why satisfaction with USU is at an all-time low, and why we're pushing to secede from the Union, SRC, SUPRA and SU Sport to create our own independent organisation - and it's because our supposed representatives are violent, selfish and have no respect for the students they are supposed to represent. Hell, they've even threatened to destroy our expensive equipment on occasion, all because a Con student would dare to run against their beloved candidate.

There was a fair bit of slander said to a friend of mine who was campaigning to Jon by supporters of Simon, although I have no doubt similar things were said to the supporters of Simon by a minority of lefties.

Most of the Labor Left and Kok campaigners seemed to be just fine playing the "they're Liberals, don't listen to them" card, I should've asked them where the facilities were for the Liberal (alleged) minority to deal with abuse from people such as them.

What the fuck does that have to do with anything to do with the union?

It has nothing more to do with those elections then you being Chinese had to do with your attempt to get on the SRC.

I really liked the whole union election thing! I loved getting bombarded with papers and everyone wanted to convince me to vote for them. I think I'm in the minority though. I voted for Katy, I'm glad she got in.

This year's SRC election should be great fun - we're introducing a whole new faction into the mix, to challenge the Action dominance. It's not just Andrew Quah for President now - we're kicking it up a notch.

I saw some interesting chalking today:
"No Fees.
No Cuts.
No VSU.
Rally 19th May"

Is it just me, or does statement 3 contradict statement 1?

It's meant to mean "no increases in full fee-paying places", which is something that is likely under VSU (because there will be no-one to oppose it). Bloody Socialist Alternative chalkers though, we had a large discussion about it at EAG and reached the conclusion (several times) that using the specific phrase "No Fees" is stupid because it confuses people, even though there is a valid point about full fees there. And then they go and write that anyway

Also, Quah, was the Diversity Party not a faction at the last SRC election? Or is it something entirely new?

How is the lost income from full fee places going to be offset, aside from raising HECS or importing more international students?
