I'm generally a practical person as well, but I guess there are key elements of a wedding that must be of top quality (which normally means spending a good amount of money on it). The actual reception, the dress and suit, the photography/film, the food, the cake, dj etc etc

eh, I can't believe I'm talking about this. I talk about this as if I'm getting married tomorrow.

But anyway, saying that, I wouldn't spend money on tacky shit like initials on the napkins or something lol

The thing with Arab weddings is that it's not just the bride and groom getting married...it's as if everybody gets married at an Arab wedding...it's a pretty big deal lol
argh arab weddings are the worst. the bride and groom look like the unhappiest people in the room and it's all *awkward* and touching hands

Wait.

Who usually spends the most on the wedding (generally)? The bride or groom? The bride's family or the groom's family?

For asians isn't it usually the male side? So if your a female, why worry about the cost?

Wedding dresses I don't know.

But I want a swing band. And I'll re-take swing/rock n roll dancing classes beforehand so I can have a super fun first dance.

With the people I know it's the bride and groom both paying for it, not the families. You're an adult, ffs.

You girls can have careers and shit now, you don't need to be bought off by another family. Have some pride.

Are you saying that you would not accept money offered to you for doing something you were already going to do anyway?

I don't really know what I want my dress to look like except that it won't be strapless - just think it's a bit overdone IMO and anyhow I can never find a strapless bra that fits properly/comfortably and I don't want to be uncomfortable on my wedding day.

I do however know what the cake will be like. Cake is very important. Obscene amounts of chocolate. And strawberries. And none of that white hard icing. Mmm yes. Yum. Wedding cake you can actually eat.
