what are they?
also, does anyone know how hard it'll be to transfer from a course in another uni/within same uni to UNSW commerce double degree? is there priority to those who transfer within the same industry (eg. business) with respect to those doing for example, med science

What are credits?

They allow you to gain 'credit' for courses you've already done after you've transferred. For example, if you did Accounting at Macquarie and transferred into Commerce at Sydney - you may get credit for the accounting course you did at Macquarie, because it doesn't make sense to do the same subject twice if you've covered the content already.

How hard is it to transfer?

It's easier, I think - to transfer from the same uni. That way, 'credits' are more easily worked out because if you did Accounting 1A as a free elective when doing Arts at UNSW, and you transferred into Commerce at UNSW - you have done the exact same subject you needed to do in Commerce, so you are 100% guaranteed credit for that subject. This doesn't happen 100% of the time in external transfers. I know a guy, he did accounting at UQ, but didn't get credit for it. So he had to take a UNSW accounting course because UNSW didn't recognise the UQ equivalent.

As we see here: https://my.unsw.edu.au/student/academiclife/program_transfer/program_trans_ASB.html

You need to have done at least 36 uoc (or one whole year) with a WAM of at least 75 to meet minimum requirements to transfer internally.

Is there a priority?

No. It's all decided on marks.

Free electives are free electives.

You can do whatever you want if you fulfill requirements. So you can't take 4th year maths as a free elective because it requires 3rd year maths, which requires 2nd year maths, etc.

But yeah, accounting 1A, basic microeconomics, first year maths, etc. - all available to you.

If you transfer from one university to another, does your WAM/GPA somehow come across with you? What happens to your WAM/GPA from your first university?

You start a new uni, your WAM/GPA gets reset.
