Hello Everyone

My teacher has told us not to quote text book writers as evidence (Hurley, Lawless, Bradley etc) . However seem to think that we can use Brian Brennan as secondary evidence for Sparta despite that he is a textbook writer. What are your thoughts on this?

Brian is a well-respected historian and university lecturer who happens to write some textbooks for Ancient History.

The others are basically high school teachers of history.

That is the difference.
Using Brian is fine but I agree with your teacher - don't refer to the others at all by name.
