wait am i the only one who has no idea whats going on this with situation rn
i barely know about it because at this point idgaf bout half the things happening in the world, i only know bits and pieces
Ok, I'll do a tl;dr of the situation.

If you don't know the very early history of the conflict, basically after WW2 a bunch of Jewish immigrants migrated to Palestine, the Jewish Holy land, and displaced the local Palestinian population. Within the context of the Holocaust, this was seen as the right decision as the Jewish people needed a state for their own protection and prosperity. So later on, the UN split Palestine into an Israeli portion and a Palestinian portion (creating what is today Gaza and West Bank) containing its Jewish population and Muslim population (respectively). In the Yom Kippur war in the 70's, Israel was able to claim Gaza and West Bank for themselves and extend the territory of Israel. However, the fact that Israel now occupies Gaza and West Bank has created a lot of conflict in the region today, particularly in regards to Gaza. Israel controls the water and electricity supply of Gaza, Israel has placed a naval and air blockade on Gaza, and Palestinians have 'Israeli citizenship' but are excluded from the welfare state of the country and the democratic process. People in both West Bank and Gaza, but Gaza particularly, live in extremely squalid conditions. In fact ~%50 of Gaza's population is unemployed.

However, the main problem for Israel in regards to Gaza is that it's run by the terrorist organisation Hamas. This is an organisation that is predicated on the complete and utter destruction of Israel, only to be replaced by a new version of Palestine. Despite Israel's blockade, Hamas has been able to create rockets from smuggling material through tunnels under the Gaza-Egyptian border, and through resources already found within the country. Repeatedly, Hamas is the first to instigate aspects of the conflict, often firing rockets at innocent Israeli civilians, to which Israel then escalates the conflict by firing back with drone strikes or withdrawing rights from Palestinians. In the most recent bout of conflict, Hamas militants were able to break through the Gaza border to capture and kill Israeli civilians. In turn, Israel declared war on them a day later, and is planning a ground invasion of the territory. Just yesterday they ordered 1 million civilians from Northern Gaza to move to Southern Gaza within 24 hours for their imminent invasion. Read this Wikipedia page for more detail: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Israel–Hamas_war.

Unfortunately in this short two-paragraph post I've only been able to scrape the surface of the conflict, and I've definitely made a few mistakes in here as I too am new to the conflict. Correct me if I'm wrong. But basically, no two sides are perfect. At worst, Israel can be described as an apartheid state, and at worst Gaza can be described as a total terrorist state. West Bank has been mostly left out of the recent conflict as living conditions are slightly better there and they have a more normal government. Fanboys of each side focus solely the cause and effect of their own side. Israel fanboys like Ben Shapiro for example distill the conflict into a simple: Palestine does an act of terrorism --> so Israel increases its own security. Whilst Palestine fanboys like Noam Chomsky focus on: Israel withdraws rights from Palestinians, worsening the quality of life greatly in the region --> Palestine retaliates. In reality everyone is to blame and both sides have done some atrocious things. Anyway, learn from people wiser than me - this video was from seven years ago but explains it well:

Yeah ok, how would you explain it better? This is why I don't bother explaining complex issues online.

historically speaking as well, Palestine isn't just the jewish holy land. its also the Christian and Muslim holy land, to say that they have right to colonise the country purely because of the beliefs that they're descendants of Abraham and that trumps everything doesn't sit well with me

Yeah, but it kind of needs to be stated that this was all within the context of the Holocaust. Before, this time the Zionist movement had many ideas for their Jewish state but it wasn't really assumed that they would get the Holy Land, a greatly populated area for the time. The pamplet below was published in 1938 and shows all the places that they considered low population and so suitable for their new country. Wierdly enough, the Murray Darling Basin was considered as it they considered is low population but hospitable. However within the context of the Holocaust they were given the pick of the litter as it was assumed that the Jewish population was on its last legs and desperately needed a place to reside. Hence, they could pretty much choose wherever they wanted as long as it wasn't in a Western country, so thats how they ended up in Palestine.

calling it the pick of the litter is crazy , and ofc it could be anything but a western country, that's just the western superiority complex that came outta ww2. this just proves the extent of ethnic cleansing happening rn

Should Indigenous Australians or Indigenous Indians engage in a killing spree, murdering hundreds of innocent children, parents, siblings, cousins just because they were born in a country, in addition to brutally slaughtering women by first raping them and then proceeding to defile their bodies? Suddenly the only reason people now have an issue with colonisation is just that it may be contemporary, so I actually would criticize those who condemn the actions of Zionism but don't acknowledge the previous colonial conquests that happened hundreds of years ago because you're prioritising one that happens to be against the most hated ethnicity ever because of a false narrative constructed by those lunatic Muslim Jihadists who will rape your women while simultaneously killing you and your children in their 'justified conquest'. The only reason why this is so so so outrageous for Israel to have taken over Palestine is being of the overwhelming increase in Muslims who all follow the same script about how "THE BRITISH DECEIVED THE PALESTINIANS AND THE JEWS SLAUGHTERED US IN 1950." I condemn both sides of this war, however, am I the only one that finds it extremely hypocritical and honestly amusing that most Muslims in Western Sydney are celebrating these atrocities while also ignoring Australia's own history and not being informed about how these garbage people were celebrating breaking a women's bones and raping her? "BUT BUT THE JEWS CAUSED 911, THEY RUN THE WORLD BELIEVE ME PLEASE I DON'T HAVE ANY EVIDENCE BUT BELIEVE ME!"
