Generally I look for guys who understand that people are much more complicated than "bad guys" or "soft cocks".

Despite my hatred for these threads, I'm just going to go ahead and write about my dream guy:

*older and taller than me
*is unmistakeably masculine
*impressive jawline
*fit, engages in some kind of physical activity or sport
*atheist/agnostic/open-minded
*musical/plays an instrument
*is a fan of hendrix or miles davis
*can appreciate classical music, and would find seeing my ensemble performances/concerts interesting
*has a passion for something within the arts. Knows every detail about it.
*some sort of European heritage
*spells words correctly, even in text messages/emails
*slick with words
*attentive, doesn't play mind games
*has goals or evidence of a future
*isn't shy about dancing
*opens doors and occasionally pays for things, but isn't bothered about my unladylike swearing
*socially capable; can hold his own when around strangers. I want you to be able to take care of yourself at parties if I decide to fly off to talk to someone else.

(weird sort of list and very specific, but i'm surprised myself how many people fit them all... )

I'd say:

Someone whos willing to put the same amount of attention into a relationship as me. I.e: no more or less than is necessary.
Someone who is genuinly interested in what i say & feel
and if this said guy DOES look like James Dean? Giggidy.

So, do guys have to fit into ALL those categories before you date them?

I'd say most Hollywood -leading men and Casanova himself would struggle with that list.

OH, so you've already met some guys that fit that list to a T? ( with reference to the bolded part)

personally i don't think it's that hard. basically you can boil down that list into:

*educated
*cultured somehow
*musically open minded
*good looking
*comfortable with himself
*socially aware

yes, but she could have listed at least one semi-original attribute she looks for. One hour of big brother probably has more value than that post.

Intelligence would be on the top of my list, but that gets me into trouble a fair bit because I tend to ignore all other characteristics of a person and just focus on that particular one.
Two weeks down the track with any type of a relationship with a guy, and I'll realise he's a complete bore, and cannot hold the conversation past "How are you". It's happened a number of times. Christ, I wish I was joking.

Also, girls are generally attracted to complete assholes. I'm one of them :/

I've also noticed that boys my age are either brain dead, lifeless, or devout Christians.
Someone mentioned older, and taller guys before. I wholeheartedly agree with you.
