They should have an alternative paper that's much harder. I'm sure you can still receive your HSC.

Contact your school asap, but be prepared for the worst.

You won't fail HSC unless you already have an N-Award but misreading the timeable is not an acceptable excuse for missing an exam, so you'll likely get 0 with no appeal.

In the NESA website it says:

To be eligible for the award of the HSC a student must have satisfied the requirements in at least twelve preliminary level units, and at least ten HSC level units, with the additional requirements that:
  • at least two must be English units;
  • at least six units must be Board-developed courses;
  • at least three courses are of two unit or greater value.
  • at least four subjects have been completed.
  • no more than seven units of science are studied. This was changed from six units in 2019 with the addition of the Science Extension subject.
It makes no reference to failing or not doing one of your trials.

Usually they won't let you sit an "alternative paper" unless you properly file for illness/misadventure - misreading the timetable is not an acceptable excuse. Most likely you'll get an N award warning for not attempting paper 1, and if this is your 1st N warning, you should be in the clear. If you're a repeat N award warning offender, you may receive the N award and may be ineligible to receive your HSC (as you haven't satisfactorily completed the 2 unit english requirement).

Going forward, please make sure you go to paper 2 and complete it to the best of your ability (to avoid a second strike) and make sure you read your HSC timetable correctly so you don't run into this mistake again.

Well since you're in year 11 your trials are basically a practice - It doesn't mean anything. However, in year 12 it does so be careful. :)

Shes in year 12 Vikhil asked her year 11 or year 12 and she said year 12!!!!

go to specsavers
Actually, I know thats why I said "however". There are many year 11 people on here (including you) so I thought mentioning "year 11" will ease a little stress and prevent people from making the same mistake once the hit year 12.
