Is there any reason why your marks are slightly lower in this forum, as opposed to the General 07 forum?

Trying to impress someone?

I did the Extension 1 HSC paper last year, got a 36/50 and came at rank 7/22. It was a terrific mark then, I thought but in year 12 standards, it isn't, lol.

A decent mark would be anything 45+/50, but that's subjective.

Apparently, seeing as your marks have very little difference between them, it won't damage you much (not that I would know). Saying that, don't wring your hands over the scaling, do your best because there's not much else you can do about it.

similar difficulty to 2unit imo; just more content to deal with in a shorter period of time.

the stuff you do in 3unit HSC is very different to the stuff you do in prelims.Actually my assessments throughout the prelim year for 3unit has been mainly 2unit in difficulty because we get assessed on 2unit stuff as well as things classified as "E" from the syllabus which IMO isnt much more difficult.

I think it's ok to pick ext 1 maths even if maths is not your strong area. Just don't be fooled into thinking that scaling will make things all better in ext 2, because that's a whole different story.

ext1 - a mark of 40/50 is decent, which means you'll be able to do 4u and undersatnd it. 45+/50 means you should have no problems at all with 4 unit.

According to our exams and my teacher, a solid 60-70%+ is good enough for 4unit . I've been getting solid 80's in 2 unit and 85's in 3unit(weird aye?) so I hope to do 4unit. :)

it's not that weird. My raw 4 unit marks were higher than my 3 unit raw marks at half yearly point.

I'm worried after reading this. because my maths teacher has always told us (im only in year 11) that 85%+ is good for 2 unit and 70%+ is good for extension 1. would u say that was right, or is he way off? I'm getting around that, but closer to 80 for extension. and he said thats absolutely fine to continue with ext 1 next year. would u agree? will 75-80% for extension 1 still scale up?
Thanks :) (my first post :))

ye 85 in 2u and 70 in 3u is decent coz thats ur raw mark, then it generally scales up
