What is the best uni for secondary teaching ,reputation wise?

Despite the demand for teachers, I still want to be in the good books.;)
I want to teach Visual Arts :D and Religion ( I was adviced to have religion, because it supposedly helps getting employed with Catholic schools- which is logical- and plus I don't mind it either.:))

Thanks in advance

Visual arts and religion, eh? with secondary teaching?

there's a really good sec. teaching prog. here (avondale). But then, its not catholic... and it's not exactly a big-name uni...

...but apparantly avondale teaching graduates are highly sought after in both the public and private school sectors... so landing a job @ the end of it would be easy.

just Catholic schools though? What about general christian schools?

I don't specifically want to work in a catholic school. If it's Public or catholic -to me it doesn't matter

i havent heard good reviews about teaching from acu... i'd approach some catholic schools and ask the teachers where they trained. you would need to train in religion on the side though

You will walk into a teaching job regardless of what Uni you go to.

not always, theres a lot of graduates that dont get offered jobs in australia and then need to look overseas for work.

IMO, the best teachers are those who have a great depth of knowledge in their field. So, I'd suggest either look for a combined qualification, ie BA / BEd, or BSc / BEd, etc, or look to get the teaching qualification after a first degree such as a DipEd, or better yet an MTeach.
