Trebla/Carrotsticks organise a day where they conduct the trials in exam conditions
then they mark them all and give out results

then they post exams online with solutions

Last year I sat for the MX2 paper. Got like 40/100 lol

It's done like 2-3 weeks before the real HSC exam starts
so the point of the exam is to mimic the actual hsc except 1000 times harder

Yes

It's also a good indicator about what marks people will get. Most of the time people who do these papers are guaranteed to get a band 6/E4 so it kinda tells you ninety-what you're gonna get. Sometimes.

Are they usually based on predictions on what will come up in 2-3 weeks time or are they based on just random questions which are 1000 times harder than the HSC

DO they make post trial ones?
What do you mean post-trial ones?

It's done 2-3 weeks before HSC like lee said
The point is it is to challenge you and basically be as hard as possible within the bounds of the syllabus
They do one a year
