I thought Tech was semi-selective or similar?

Guy who topped Music 2 in my year went there.

WRT the main discussion, employers typically want someone who (in order of preference):

1. Can get the job done without hand-holding
2. Won't bitch and moan
3. Is able to pick up new things quickly
4. Gets along with other people
5. Won't bail within 6 months

In some fields (e.g. fins/eco), grades are the most common indicator of #1. But actual professional experience, with actual results, trumps grades every time. Nothing rankles worse than an A-student who is constantly asking whether they're doing something right, or is constantly griping about how things are "unfair".

In fact, a lot of stereotypical A-student behaviours - grubbing for marks, appealing scores, asking for continuous feedback - are lethal to career prospects, and often see these types get culled in the interview stages. At the end of the day, all we care about is if you can get shit done without wasting our time.

The reason why uws is classified as a "shithole" (which isn't the case at all - depends on the person), because it is a new university - it's 25 years old next year. To be honest, you get a degree at the end and those who think that uws is a shithole and blabs on about prestige should get their heads out of their arses.

I don't go to UWS, but the people at your school are bloody arrogant. What the f*ck is their problem? No one should EVER degrade a university, and they also they don't know shit btw. UWS has way better good looking females than in UNSW. The majority of girls there are hell good looking and hot. I might be wrong but your classmates at your school might be bloody ugly and are afraid to even approach these good looking girls.
I won't make comment about USYD since I don't know. Please say that to your classmates for me, thanks.
