To me social conservatism is the preservation of traditional values such as law and order, freedom of speech, freedom of association and freedom of religion. We inherit a Liberal society. If there was no legal system there would be anarchy, banditry, violence and chaos. We would be like Somalia, which is a terrible country because there is no operative legal system because society is broken down. There would be no way for dispute resolution e.g. if John borrows money from Kevin and has a formal agreement that John will pay it back and then John decides not to pay it back. Kevin has no option but to take the law into his own hands and engage in illegality. In a civilized country like Australia there are legal avenues for dispute resolution and human lives are not put at risk. In Australia the safety and welfare of all citizens is utmost.

If I had a choice as to what society I would live in, it would be ranked thusly:
1. Socialism (with a high focus on social rights and freedoms, imagine the French running social policy and Norwegians controlling the economy)
2. Direct democracy (presuming that there is a logistically sound way of having it...)
3. Anarchy

I prefer a nation which is ruled by a collection of oligarchs where I am the supreme leader... I would be worshiped and have a bountiful amount of women who I can sleep with on the daily... my posse will deal with all the mundane paper work and running the country... Don't think that's going to happen...

But, in the off chance that it might, who would like to be a part of my oligarch???

The rule of law states that no one is above the law and that there is punishment only for conduct that the law made illegal. The law cannot be applied retrospectively.

Yes nobody is above the rule of law Sathius, unless you're the state that has the monopoly on violence, theft and culture.

To coin socialism and freedom into the same soundbite is a complete oxymoron. To centrally plan, control or distribute is by definition, a violation of natural rights and thus the antithesis of freedom (unless you're talking about that destructive kind of positive-rights nonsense, oh wait, you are!)

A Norwegian economic policy is only possible with a Norwegian supply of oil.

theres not. and I mean lmao we have to force people to elect leaders once ever 3 or 4 years or else most of them wouldnt do it, are you going to force them to vote on every single bit of legislation?

3. Anarchy

be honest, it's quite entertaining to read what he has to say... to some extent. He practically keeps this forum alive.
