About $8,000-$10,000 saved
I worked full time at the Department of Finance for a year. Pretty much how I saved all my money.

Going to uni full time this year so I'll hopefully find a part time job and not eat into my savings

Money in bank: About $1500, likely less. Not quite sure at the moment.
Loans: HECS/HELP soon.
Job: N/A at this time, I haven't been able to find one yet :/.

All the money is just my "life" savings, i.e. just money I've been given for Christmas and birthdays throughout my life. I'm glad now that I never went and blew my money on lollies and junk or I'd have nothing at this stage. $1000 of that is in a term deposit though and I can't access it.

Money in Bank: nearly 8k
Debts: About 3k Hecs debt so far, currently owe nothing on my credit card (has a 2500 limit)
Jobs: woolies casual, though pretty much work full time in holidays
I'm eligible for YA, but most fortnights I've earnt too much so I get nothing (fair enough though, I don't really need it). Health Care Card comes in handy though, as does my CLS scholarship.
Expenses: need to spend some serious money fixing up my car though :(

not sure about bank balance.....prob a few hundred well better be!
Loans: about to have a $18k car loan, over 5yrs, but gng to try and pay more off each week so i can do it over 3-3.5yrs.
Credit cards: all now merged into one, about $6500, plus ive got about $1150 left on the 18months interest free thing i got for my video camera and laptop.

Not a cent in savings....been really bad with money! Go from nothing at uni to working and not really knowing wher the fuck it goes.

Once i got my car, i will only pay about $50 a wk in board but at moment i pay $130pw in rent.

Other than that, i got the private health insurance and stupid union fees...which you cant go without being a nurse...just in case some idiot decides to sue you.

Definitely want to do something similar to what you're doing, just need to polish off my start up capital.

How on Earth did you (I mean your dad) manage to find a positively geared apartment?
