The religion of Islam is based on the notion of peace as an essential element. The word Islam itself is derived from the word “salaam” which actually means peace. Peace is the fundamental aim of islam. Close study of the Quran and the Hadiths prove this. The ideal society according to the Quran is “Dar’al salaam” which means the house of peace. Muslims achieve a state of inner peace with themselves in two ways. The first is being at peace with Allah and the second is to be at peace with themselves and the rest of the world. .....
talk about jihad and the five pillars and how that contribtes to inner peace
for example Shahada is the first pillar. It is the witness to the oneness of Allah supporting the principle belief of Tawhid (holiness and oneness of Allah)This affirmation of Allah is the only God and not accepting or praising any other gods of objects frees Muslims from selfishness so that they can woship Allah freely. This is integral to inner peace as focus of self and being egotistical will contribute to destroying this inner peace and relationship with Allah.
hope that helps somehow

Snapperhead please try to answer this Q
Hey, found this really hard as well so here's some of my notes of Islam and peace from class, but they're based on only one question.

Discuss[T1] the contribution[T2] of two religious traditions [T3] to world peace

Islam

POSITIVE POINTS
v The Quran refers to Islam as the ‘the path of peace’ (5:16)
v “Dar al Salaaam” [T4] – Surah (10:25) is the house of peace
v This means that the surrender to Allah’s will lead to inner peace
v True peace only exists where there is justice[T5]
v Jihad is the struggle to bring about Allah’s will
v To be at peace is to be at rest with desires and ambitions
v Go through the pillars[T6] and explain how they achieve peace
· Shahada – declaration of faith
· Zakat – almsgiving
· Hajj – pilgrimage
· Sawm –Fasting
· Salat – daily prayer
[T7]
NEGATIVE POINTS
v Islamic extremism – violent[T8] means are used to enforce the spread of Islam
v The popular misconception of ‘Jihad’, mistaking it for something of violence

The fundamental teachings of both Islam and Christianity have made positive contributions to the achievement of world peace. The proof of these contributions can be found in their sacred texts, in the witness of their founders and in their overwhelming desire to bring about the will of god. However, it is true that throughout history, the destruction of peace has occurred in the nature of both Islam and Christianity.

Then you could say some crap about wars and fights.
Forcing of religion upon others.

Thoughts, Snapperhead?

[T1]Give reasons for and against

[T2]Something that is given

[T3]Islam and Christianity

[T4]Islam sees itself as the house of peace. If people follow Islam, it will give them peace. This parallels with the ‘Kingdom of God’ in Christianity.

[T5]That which is right and good – it is that which Allah wills

[T6]Pillars of Islam – supports the religion

[T7]these result in inner peace, as they are a submittance toAllah. Inner peace leads to world peace

[T8]violence = ‘qital’

I HATE HSC.
DIE.
