I once brought a Parker Sonnet to school once for english and ancient history exam. Sooooooo unbelievably smooth, but unfortunately on both instances it was practically empty when I finished. You absolutely cannot go wrong with gold nibs.

My preferred pen at the moment: BIC Classic Fine. But any smooth-writing fines will do.

In fact I prefer using fine (0.5 mm?) biros but they are so difficult to find as the bulk in the stores are medium. Why fine? I find them easier to write the superscripts and subscripts.
