Does legal studies aligned your raw mark down? As like, if you get 85 raw mark in the exam, would it stay as it is, or would it go down or up?

I'm pretty sure it aligns your raw mark up. My teacher said if you get anything above 80 raw then you're looking at a band 6.

Edit: She meant 80 raw in the trials though...only 3 people got above 80 at my school.

80.. no way!
2 unit maths you need at least 83 raw, and thats much harder.
I think you need about 88 to get a band 6 in legal, the mark doesnt move much.

considering exams each year are of different difficulty and they never release raw marks to the public you can never know

i think marks won't be that high this year because of multiple choice, which most people seem to have found hard

^^

Multiple choice is only 15 marks.

and only 5 of those were 'ehh'-strange questions.

The Crime and extended response were straightforward.

so I reckon the cut-off is going to be a little higher this year.

For HSIE subjects, they never scale well - sometimes down actually, I'd think a 90 this year would be what you'd need.

can i ask something:
do they work out your band based on your combined raw hsc exam mark together with your internal mark? or is it purely how you performed in the hsc exam that determines your band for the subject?

yeah your band is based on the combination of both internal and exam mark.
but you get both marks back so you get to see where you went better

Legal Studies is considered one of the hardest courses... to do well in, ie 85+ There is a shitload to remember and you may not even need it all.

The exam was pretty good, except for a couple of the multiples. The family questions were especially straightforward and you can't complain too much about crime, ay?

Anyways, all social science subjects do not scale badly! People always say that 'this subject is better than that' or 'there's no way that scalses as high' - it all depends on the percentile in which you place for the exam and your assessment rank.

I don't wish to provoke one of those nasty forum battles, but I hate when people say that Legal is easy...
