What text types do we need to be familiar with?

yep, add dialogue, that's just a conversation between two people

i think the common ones are essay, speech, interview/dialogue, feature article but the others do pop up

For diary entry do u just write the date and put "Dear Diary," and make it all personal?

Yeah - their thoughts and opinions about what's going on around them. I don't think they'd ask for one from a specific character, though. So you could choose your character and write their diary.
