well, jsut as my last post explained, the reason you are getting a better UAI is it is relatively more hard to get 70's and 80's in your subjects than 80's and 90's in the subjects your friends are doing. Whether or not the subject is more challenging is not important only that 'smarter' ppl do maths and science and so your 70/80 is worth more than an 80/90 in a subject in which there are not so many 'smart' people. This is a rather crude explanation but I think it is fairly correct.
how can u say ppl r smarter who do maths n science its just not tru all exams r just memory n if thats all its on history shuld b scaled the highest!

not all exams are based on memory, there are those exams that require logic and interpretation. its all well and good memerizing information but what seperates students is how the information is used.
subjects are scaled according to the degree of difficulty of the course not the average of the intelligence of the people doing the course

Course preferences? 94 UAI was the highest course I wanted, 81 was the lowest. No guesses as to which I'm gonna end up in :worried:

Just goes to show i suppose that excessive partying/family guy watching (damn you foxtel digital!)/schoolwork neglection during year 12 cant be made up for by decent HSC results.

On the bright side dancing my way through my first year of university will be fun until i transfer over to what I really want to do, finally a chance to come first in something!

UAC =

come first in a uni subject? that's very difficult. you have candidatures of 500+ for some subjects. That said, i've come first in two subjects. But really, coming first in a uni subject is like 'whooooooaa. that shit is whack'

Maybe you should learn to type before critiquing someone's post.
I wouldn't say the smartest people do maths - they have a different use of intellect.
The smartest people are both good at maths subjects and subjective interpretation subjects (such as english).

is it their assessment mark or hsc exam mark or both?

and about bands --- is it calculated by assessment or hsc exam mark or both?

how about SAM --- what does it calculate???

*sigh*

if it is just one number people are posting next to their subjects it should be their overall HSC mark. EDIT: First number is exam mark, second is assessment mark, third is overall HSC mark.

Bands are calculated according to your overall HSC mark.

SAM uses your overall HSC mark.

Notice a pattern?
