I’m doing math adv, ext 1, phys, chem, eng adv, ancient (?), and then I need another one
what are the subjects that you definitely want to do? what interests you? Ancient like modern does provide the opportunity for history ext in y12![]()
but I have a feeling ancient is gonna be too much since it’s so content heavyI’m doing math adv, ext 1, phys, chem, eng adv, ancient (?), and then I need another one![]()
depends if u can cope i did triple science and it wasnt fun but i managed to survivebut I have a feeling ancient is gonna be too much since it’s so content heavy
as long as you listen in class and make solids notes during class time, it isn't as heavy of a workload in comparison to the sciences and mathbut I have a feeling ancient is gonna be too much since it’s so content heavy
wrongI was thinking asian 5 (bio>phy) and a language
its basically a harder ver of adv engits shit dont pick it, you'll most likely drop it in year 12
i think everyones just different honestlyno adv eng is harder imo
yea but i learn some accelyou're in year 10 relax with the statements.
I completed Advanced, Extension 1 and Extension 2, was extremely passionate about English and still ended up being one of the only people in my cohort to receive a band 6 in Advanced English. I also found Extension 1 and 2 were more demanding of my time because there's a higher degree of sophistication needed for the critical responses and creative pieces than Advanced. I guess it also helped that the texts I analysed in Extension 1 were in fact extensions of concepts I was learning in Advanced anyway. Whilst it may be true that some Extension students may not perform as well as Advanced students due to workload stress or an inability to get to the crux of an argument because of their 'overwhelming passion' which causes them to go on unrelated tangents to the question, I would like to add that passion for a subject is generally a good indicator of how strongly you will perform in it.Yeah for sure. That may also explain why often the extension people often get beat in advanced by the advanced people. People with a passion for english aren't nescessarily the best in a twisted kind of irony. I've always found it interesting that maths is so different. At my school the adv maths cohort is twice the size of the adv english cohort and the ext1 maths is like five times the size of the ext1 english. I think that comes down to the fact that most people try to pick the highest maths they can do, not out of passion like eng, but out of nescessity for future careers or uni or just the general perception that maths is important. I probably digress a little but that's just some ponderings.

This was not written to diss your point or shut you down, I was just offering another perspective from someone who is immensely passionate about English and could still do well in Advanced.
I think I just used to go over the top where it read more like it was suited to an extension criteriaWow that's interesting. My advanced teacher always pushes us to write essays at an extension level with all of the typical extension features: heaps of contextual information and analysis (not so much on the composer, but definitely the historical context) and complex thesises. We've never had to worry about 'dialing it back' but maybe that's because we're not the best school around...
