I think you can email or phone those socs and tell em that you missed O-week and ask (nicely) if you can still join.

I might do that as well, actually. I was sort of interested in ArchSoc and Debating, but I couldn't find the stalls. (Mainly because I didn't have much time to search them out, because I was too busy getting sunburnt in the Access queue.)

Yeah I'm pretty sure you can join any of the societies at any time. Just find out how to contact them and they'll tell you what to do. I know I'll be signing up to Ultimate Frisbee this Thursday arvo!

Lol, I seriously want to join Ultimate Frisbee. Can you post up the details (and if its SU Sport or if you need an Access Card)?

Yeah you need to join SU Sport first and when you fill out the form for them make sure to put Ultimate Frisbee down. You'll need a sginature from one of the UF guys so just come down to the Oval behind Manning at 4pm Thursday and talk to the guys there and they'll sort you out.

I must warn you though, it's a dangerous sport. One guy copped a massive black eye yesterday and we were meant to be just mucking around!

Indeed. Do you need an access card to join the debating society? I wouldn't mind checking it out.

I don't think you need an access card to join anything, it just means you have to pay a $37 admin fee. I think I've already saved more than my access card cost in one day by avoiding the admin fee so lesson = buy an access card.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you do unless you mind paying $37 plus the normal joining fee.

Cool, I'm going to check it out next week.

I'm not entirely sure if debating incurs the club fees, because if the impression I get is right it's not actually a club, but an official arm of USU headed up by the Debates Committee. It's not in the C&S directory, either.

Can anyone who does debating confirm/contradict that?

Hoorah! But yes, I don't have $99 laying around at the moment. After I buy some text books I'll consider getting an access card, but not now. That's assuming that you can still get one after o-week, which I naturally assume that you can.

Hehe, USyd rocks compared to UNSW though, speaking of o-week. So much more stuff to do, so many more friendly people...it's just such a better uni. </minirant>

There was a whole load of school students today. Manning was packed but the grounds outside of the Quad were empty.

You do realise that they own your soul now?
Seriously.

I'm glad I went on wednesday and today, purely to meet people and not feel like a newbie next week when I start.

Even managed to buy some of my readers etc

I spent like an hour looking for the archsoc stall...and I was supposed to be manning it. Stupid planners moved us from a prime position to on the outskirts facing the road. There should still be oppurtunities to join if you're interested.

Yeah Karma Kitten's right. The Socialists have got you for good. :p Me, I point blank, ignored them.
