I'd just like to clear this up, within the BComm at Sydney, you can generally complete a double major with the Accounting - Professional Accreditation Program, by doing this you would have completed 18/24 UOS (incl. the 10 cores), though it is a tight squeeze. Also, for the combinations listed above (with management or int. business or finance) you can safely complete a double major. Also, if you're afraid of such a restrictive academic schedule there is also the Commerce (Liberal Studies) though that is 4 years.
Yea... I should said you can't do it in a normal way
......

For a second major with International Business surely can .... cos as I found they cut a few core course in International Business
.....some of the elective used to be core subject in Int. Bus....For Finance is just right if the APAT you leave the Audit and Taxation for postgrad (But other unis already done it in undergrad.) .... but for management I think is quite impossible
......even without Audit and Taxation.... look at the pics below....

for management, you have misread:

3 compulsory units of study:
Any 2 1000 level units of study from ECOS, GOVT, MKTG and WORK (eg. ECON1001 & WORK1003);and
WORK2201 Foundations of Management

you dont have to do that whole bullshit list, you just have to choose two of those and do do WORK2201, ps, those 2 are done already in commerce core - eg. micro and micro. also, with finance, you can safely complete audit and taxation with a finance major, you have misread something.

Re: Which uni is best for B Commerce Degree?

I heard BCom-Accounting @ Mq is quite demanding+respectable to all the BIG4 firms. It's hard to so which uni's better, UTS got it's fair share too.

Re: Which uni is best for B Commerce Degree?

off topic but would i be correct in saying that the B.Com at the university of adelaide doesn't come close to the standard of the same program at these eastern states unis (usyd, unsw, melbourne, etc)?

the entrance score is REALLY low, an SA TER of 82.00 which is i think a UAI of < 80.

just wondering how univeristy of adelaide graduates would stack up against unsw/usyd/maquaire etc. grads.

Graduate salaries aren't really important. I think its far more important to earn $1million more a year in 15 years time than 1000 extra in your first year out.

Also the standard of entrance required does not dictate the final quality of graduates.

The head of ASIC Jeff Lucy is from Adelaide Accounting I believe.

As a teaching uni

1 unsw --------------------------------------------> best uni no bias
2 mac
3 uts/syd

as a snob/lable

1 usyd
and no one really cares about anything after that

But by popularity it will be

1 usyd
2 unsw -----------------------------------------> best uni no bias
3 uts
4 macquarie/wolongong

yes, no bias. that's why you labeled usyd as number one in 'snobbery', rather than 'prestige'.

depends on the office and the firm, usually the top tier uni's would be preferable, however in melbourne i know that RMIT students have a good foothold due to its near monopoly on Co-op positions.

Re: Best Uni for Commerce/Economics Study?

There should be a sticky about this. It comes up all the time. I think even I started one, years ago... maybe not.

I don't think it really matters whether you choose UNSW or USYD. Choose it based on whether you can deal with a course full of asians, travel arrangements, being able to make your own timetable or not, where your friends are going, etc.

Whether you do your degree at UNSW or USYD doesn't really matter, what matters is that you do *well* in your degree, undertake extracurriculars, etc.

To answer your question: UNSW (slightly ahead), USYD, UTS

With UNSW, everyone says it is full of Asians...

Is this a negative thing or are they just making an observation?

How about at USYD, how is it there?

ditto.

UNSW is fully of asians.

USYD has less asians.

Maybe same proportion of international students, but UNSW has more asian int students. I get the feeling there's a strong fob culture at UNSW.

It can be a negative in that, they tend to be less social, etc. and when group work comes along, they tend to be weaker members since they have poorer communication skills, etc.

Re: Best Uni for Commerce/Economics Study?

The world is full of Asians, get over it. Though, due to the higher proportion of international students at UNSW the social atmosphere is a bit different. However it's still there. Underlying racism shouldn't be a factor for chosing a university. The majority of Asians at universities are - shock-horror - Australian citizens and permenant residents who are socially active.

so much xenophobia on these boards. For those who dislike asians go do Arts or something.
