id rather be told the truth than lied to. if im dating someone im putting my trust in them- if they lie to me then they're undermining the relationship.

so why bother going out then?

One word: truth.
Because it's true. And real. Real sadness is better than imaginary happiness. I preffer other people to be honest to me, but I lie to myself all the time.
