Amelia Joy Thompson actually sat her Latin continuers and Japanese continuers in year 8. Then in year 9 Latin extension and Japanese extension.

So all up she completed 20 units. :jaw:

I think if she had done the languages for hsc in 05, and perhaps taken less units for her to focus on only several subject to achieve higher state rankings, she could have beaten Laurie for sure

wth with all these olympiads? This is about HSC! Whatever they did in Olympiads shouldn't realy count into deciding who the "king" is, lol.

Damn, I am late for fishing now.
I know this is about the HSC, but then again, IQ has been dragged into this debate!

Even though its about the HSC, its quite clear that they are pretty much almost the same HSC results or whatever, so this thread could go for another 50 pages without resolution! And these olympiads are very impressive achievements that are at the very least note worthy.

I see.

But you will have to note that many people didn't even get the opportunity of doing the Mathematics/Sciecne Olympiad Entrance exams (like my schools and 100 other schools around the state). So it's a bit narrow in that regards.

lol we've gone sorta completely offtopic now that OP's question has been answered.
Anyone want to gather all the marks of this years' 100UAIs so we can rank them?
Actually probably not, it'd be pretty hard

Top kid should be easy...because that's going to be Daniel Swain.

Second person should be Jessica Tong perhaps? (well she got 150 scaled marks with 100 & 99 for MX1 AND MX2 (not sure about order).

EDIT: Third would be Christine Zhang perhaps? 7 units on state ranks! WHOOP!

Oh I thought he would be about 4th...

Because Jessica = 150/150 for 3 units of english 199.x/200 for 3/4 unit maths

What about Christine? She got 7 units of state ranks...oh wait...Victor probably did better than.

So the list would be:

Daniel Swain
Victor
Jessica
Christine

EDIT: I nominate Justin to be 5th...6 units on state ranks and he probably did well in 4 unit seeing his 3 unit mark.

I don't know, hmm
The real clincher is the marks we don't know about, haha
I think we should rock up to their houses and knock down the front door, storm their pcs and steal their marks. haha

I know the marks of some of the ruse ppl

That's probably enough as he got 8 units covered with 98-99s.

I have seen other people with state ranks. With no state rank in the subject, the top scaled is most likely 97 really.

Benjamine Pope should be about 6th
And Nitin Mohan would be abit lower..

Then we would have dp or thereabout....

hm, for english no state rank = 97 = about 97 scaled.

for sciences, chem no state rank = 97 = 97+ scaled (slightly up)
for phys - 96 is no state rank = 96.5~
4 unit - no state rank = 99 = about 99.7 scaled i think

I was referring to all subjects except 4 unit and 3 unit (and prob distinction courses) which are absolutely ridiculous. hahaha

yup. oh, maybe except music in yr7+8. (that was me :D) and maths in yr7. but from yr8 on shes been unbeatable.

even the principal/deputies say she's unlike any other dux we've had before.

But does she have what it takes to top the state in 3-4 subjects (8 units in terms of amount) and state rank in one other subject?

oh, and the subjects must not be capped...

considering that in years 7-10
subjects include
maths, english, science, languages, history, geo -> their HSC equivs aren't capped.

tough ask but
