Yeah, was it wrong for me to expect people with the letters "Dr" at the beginning of their names actually have some form of credibility or knowledge as a lecturer? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for funny lecturers, but if UOW was to be my Uni in the future I wouldn't be too excited about it.

I went to the Discovery Day on Tuesday, it was very wet and the band didn't play.
I'm basically in love with UOW though, definitely going there.

I chose Medical Science, Economics, Computer Engineering and Psychology. Damn CompEng dude kept us so long though! Just made it for the last 5 minutes of the Psych lecture.

In the email it said to wear enclosed footwear. Do you think 'Keds' qualify as enclosed footwear, or should i wear my 'All Stars' to be safe?

You could probably leave if they were keeping you overtime, otherwise probably not. I only stayed around because we spent half the CompEng lecture playing Quake.

Lol, thanks for that, i just wasn't sure cause i'm doing practical subjects, so i just thought i'd ask. I think i'll wear my Chucks to be safe though.

and i dont think enclosed shoes are really necessary.

You can walk out whenever you want, and they dont mark rolls.
My mates came to the same lectures as i did, no questions were asked.

You only need enclosed shoes if you are going into some kind of science lab. I pretty much only ever wear thongs to uni, and I have been to lectures and tutorials without shoes before as well, they don't care.

Bummer. It made you not want to go to uni at all? I didn't realise UOW was such a turn off.

What in particular didn't you like?

I'm not sure
i just got that sort of...claustrophobic "i dont want to be here" feeling
i mean, i've never been like "oh my god i can't wait for uni"
but now i'm more "i really don't want to do journalism, like i thought, or even teaching"
though maybe one day i'd consider doing teaching, but i dont think i want to do it when i'm young

i think maybe it was partly UOW...but i really didn't like the students i saw/met there
lots of pretentious sort of...oozing around. i dont know. i'm probs being silly, but i'm still not wanting to go

well i went today!!

the talks were deadset boring!! but the day was good.
and dang the perve was pretty good. lol

i did, science fiction and health, international exchange, medical radiation physics and social and emotional intelligence..

from what i hear UoW is a very socialising uni...??? comments from current students there????

haha i'm not surprised the talks were boring considering what you chose.

the only open day i'm going to is going to be usyd, there will be no perve there at all, according to my friend all she saw was asians last year not my cup of tea.

i was told not to go to usyd because their gym memberships cost too much and they have dysfunctional air cons.
