Why does pH change so rapidly near the equivalence point (1 Viewer)

^^^^ esp for strong base - strong acid titrations as can be seen on the titration curves....
Don't quote me on this, but at equivalence point the only chemical species present would be the neutral ions, and hence any addition of base or acid will severely affect the pH of the solution. I believe it's something related to the species present at equivalence point however nonetheless I too am a bit unsure.
