No changes in syllabus content.

Just exam structure changes:

Mathematics (3 hours)
10 marks of multiple choice
90 marks of short answer

Mathematics Extension 1 (2 hours)
10 marks of multiple choice
60 marks of short answer

Mathematics Extension 2 (3 hours)
10 marks of multiple choice
90 marks of short answer

I'm personally not a fan of the multiple choice section. If you look at some of the sample questions, there are a few deliberately designed to trap students who have a basic but not a deep understanding of the concepts.

I wonder the format in which CSSA and Independent (and other trial companies/schools) will make their preliminary papers... Probably would include 10 marks of MC I think...

But that's a good thing, isn't it?

Not really, if the questions are tricky how is an average student supposed to demonstrate his or her sufficient understanding of the course if the question (especially a multiple choice type question) doesn't facilitate this? Not every question should be targeting the above average students...
