Will Universities be discouraged to offer me a place if I have them as a low pref? (1 Viewer)

Hey,
I am currently debating on doing a generalised arts degree or a more specific B.Ancient History degree at Macq. I am about 50/50 on both, however on UAC I placed B.Ancient history as my first preference, while the B.Arts is around my 5th or 6th because the Atar is pretty low (70ish).

Would Macq be deterred from offering me a place in their B.Arts because they might think I have no desire to go there and am only placing it as a 'backup option'?

You only get an offer for your highest preference which you get into i.e if you get the ATAR for B. Ancient History you will only get an offer for that.

No, unless there is another factor involved such as scholarship, cadetship and etc.

Wait, so if Macq sees that I have placed two of their courses as my preferred degrees they will only give me the first one?

No, if you dont have the atar for the first 4 or 5, you will get into no. 6, that's how it works

You only get offered one which is the highest up on your list (which you can get into with your atar)

universities cannot see ur preferences. therefore the answer to ur question is no
