I suppose you just load up on things you don't have to chew. So maybe meat is not a good idea initially.

Maybe soup would do better. Veges and meaty goodness in an easily consumed form.

I'm 21- three of my wisdom teeth started to come down about 5 months ago. Got an xray and stuff, but the dentist doesn't think they have to come out (they're not at weird angles or anything). Only possibly the last one might have to come out if it starts to break through (which it hasn't yet, and might not), so for moment i'm off free :uhhuh:

All four of my wisdom teeth were never going to come through and instead were set on a collision course with my back molars, so I had to get them taken out. It was fairly painful afterwards tbqh (obviously I didn't feel anything when they were actually being taken out thanks to being knocked out). But worth it in the long term, since now I don't have to worry about any complications later on.

Survival foods for the week included lots of stewed apple with custard, ice cream, Up & Go, yoghurt, soup, and roast veg (potato, pumpkin, sweet potato) for later on in the week when I could start chewing really soft foods.

Oh and lots of painkillers.

I got mine when I was 16 and it took 4 years for all 4 to come out.

mine were infected under the skin so i had to get them all taken out under general anesthetic

and then my fuckwit of a facial surgeon forgot to prescribe me the antiseptic so three out of four of the wounds got infected and it spread to my throat and i nearly died

all this was happening while i was on a 14 hour plane ride from sydney to san fran

Fuck man, I hope you read the surgeon the riot act

I have all four, and all four have to come out asap, though they haven't erupted. The bottom ones are compacted and are squishing my bottom row of teeth, and the top ones look like they're going to do the same. I should have had them removed months ago but, you know, honours

Mine aren't coming through! Strange.
When do most people get their wisdom teeth coming through?

It can come any time, really. Some people's never erupt, and they only know they're there when they're massively infected. My sister is 23 and hers have erupted; I'm 22 and mine are still buried deep (and going deeper with my bottom ones, riiiight into the nerve in my jaw).

Oh no!

Are you serious?
Infected?
How do I know if mine are infected?
Are there any signs I should watch out for?
Should i see a dentist every SIX MONTHS?

Only?
How many is one supposed to have?

I don't have any coming through?
Should i be worried?
A typical human will have 4, some have none.
The occasional freak has 1-3.

I may be wrong but I believe the vast majority either have 4 or 0.

Had two of my wisdom teeth removed 3 weeks ago, top left and bottom left. Bottom left had erupted but not fully due to being sideways and was also infected (god damn it hurts when its infected). They were taken out under local anaesthetic and it took about two weeks for it to heal enough for me to be able to eat on the left side without it causing problems. The second two will be taken out within the next couple of months by a specialist due to the bottom right wisdom tooth sitting right on a nerve. Also all my wisdom teeth have fully developed roots, which makes things even more difficult. -_-

Due to dry socket you cant use a straw for about a week and you cant have hot foods for the first two - three days or so. I lived on lukewarm soup, ice cream, jelly, chocolate mousse, yoghurt etc

It sucks getting them out, but honestly not being able to chew is probably the worst thing. The pain wasnt too bad, possibly even better than when they were still in my mouth.

But i really ecourage you to go to the dentist! Cause you're better off getting them taken care of before they have erupted, cause then the roots are more likely to be formed and it just become alot more of a hassle.

Also if you're going with local anaesthitic i HIGHLY suggest having the sedative as well!! Helped a shit ton!
