best- i liked bridge to terebithia, read it in primary and high school though.
rosencrantz and guildernstern are dead was pretty good too.

worst was a 2-way tie. in the skin of a lion & 50th gate

i agree it was just a terrible story line even when you did know what happens. And after analysing it 20 times it jsut gets worse and worse

Best: To Kill a Mockingbird (y9) / Interview with a vampire (y9)

Worst: The Dark is rising (y8) - it was fine, except it didn't have any of that high-brow stuff like a plot and characters

Really? I couldn't stand to read it.. I read about half of it in class (struggling not to fall asleep)
Then I watched a movie version
Terrible, absolutely terrible.. It's meant to be all 'inspiring' and shit but where's the inspiration?

Worst book would have to be: 'My Place' by Sally Morgan which we studied in English Adv earlier this year.
Best books were: To Kill a Mockingbird, Lord of the Flies & The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (which i used as one if my supportive texts, so we didn't actually study it as a class).:read:

Catcher in the Rye was Boring. But it was a pschological thriller :D

I liked the Catcher in the Rye because it didn't use pointless complicated language.

Playing Beatie Bow in Year 8 (intriguing!)

Worst novels:
Heart of Darkness this year (sorry, but it just doesn't interest me at all, although the topic we were doing was interesting)

To those of you who have placed "To Kill a Mockingbird" on your "best" list, God loves you. To those of you who didn't, not so much. For those of you who have called it boring (*cry*), God will strike down upon you not swiftly, but slowly until you will regret the day you did. I forget to mention "Lord of the Flies". Also good.

John Le Carre's "Smiley's People" - extremely confusing to read.

Adeline Mah's "Chinese Cinderella" is a good read.

I wouldn't call it a favourite, but Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" is a revelation of the nature of humans. Its imagery simply captures the essence of English, thus being a good text to delve on about in essays, albeit being a little too complex to comprehend.

Although I haven't read it, Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" seems to be quite popular amongst society. I know, it's about love and the like, but there must be something that that is awe-inspiring.
