Pfft. "Expansion pack" is a rip. See how the box says "downloadable content"? You can download what you want online. Right now.stazi said:oh and i forgot: the expansion pack for oblivion will be available on xbox 360.
huh? what are you talking about? the downloadable content available at the moment includes small add-ons such as new weapons, and short quests (about 1 hr extra gameplay each time).S1M0 said:Pfft. it's a pretty good time to be a gamer. all the consoles have great things to offer, and while the ps3 is a piece of shit right now, it'll no doubt be awesome in a couple of years. i've got a wii and it's probably the most fun i've had with videogames, hell, even my mum loves playing it- the last videogame she played before this was probably tetris on my old brick gameboy. hopefully getting a 360 soon.
there's loads of potential with these consoles, and i can't wait to see what theyve got to offer a few yrs down the track.
no it's not. full stop. they cater for two very different markets. a pc is for work, internet, media and gaming, whilst a console is almost exculsively for gaming. developers are locked in by the constraints of consoles, which can be a very good thing, as they maximise the hardware (check out early ps1 games vs late ps1 games; early ps2 vs late ps2). What I hate about PC gaming is the necessity to spend a shitload of money for a top PC that can handle games at their max settings, only to have to upgrade some components one year later, if I want to keep up with gaming evolution.sladehk said:what i meant is that a *console* is basically a pc.. so if you kinda modify some stuff on the pc (add periphials).. you get.. a console!!
...precisely why PC with TV outputs have been available for years. ... precisely why console gaming's popularity keeps increasing from generation to generation. A lot of people have simply started to prefer console gaming for features such as consistent online play (i.e. a friend's list that is consistent between all games, leaderboards, a lack of cheating [considering how common cheating in online games is with mods and the such])sladehk said:pc wiht tv output could prolly in the end replace consoles, you can get adapters and get console-like controllers too
PCs may always have the best graphics on paper, but it'll only be accessible to those on a big budget, ie hardcore gamers. For the 360 to be out as long as it has, and release something graphically pleasing like Gears of War is incredible, the developers are just going to get more and more from the machine like stazi said as time goes on.S1M0 said:Yes, very true.
Each platform has its own advantages or disadvantages. I choose pc as the dominant platform based on my own reasons, namely that it will always have the best graphics, its games are far more mature, in the sense that its more intelligent and complex. It also has all the features that a console has + much more. I pay what you might consider a "premium" for this, and thats my decision.
Now, to actually contribute to what this thread is actually about, i say that the wii, so far, is the best console out of the three. The reason is because the wii has offered two things to the gaming world:
- An entirely new approach to games which (thankfully) differs from the graphics of that game and into the actual game itself, otherwise known as gameplay
- Offers something that the PC cannot, yet, provide as a control method.
