As for Paul Erds (pronounced air-dish), he spent all his time on mathematics, and not much else. He lived and travelled with his mother until her death. He had no home and no job and spent his time travelling the world, with just two suitcases (one for clothes, one for maths - the one with clothes was not heavy at all), looking for people to collaborate with. In his time, he was the internet. He would be the one who would spread the word on who was working on what and with which approach, carrying most things in his head. He didn't like human contact - after a handshake, he would immediately want to wash his hands thoroughly. He liked Grapefruit. He died during a mathematics talk.

Seriously, would you want a life like that? No matter how much maths you like. I mean, there's more to life...

Don't ever do maths beyond first or second year uni. You will begin to hate your newlywed wife.

"Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty — a beauty cold and austere, like that of sculpture, without appeal to any part of our weaker nature, without the gorgeous trappings of painting or music, yet sublimely pure, and capable of a stern perfection such as only the greatest art can show. The true spirit of delight, the exaltation, the sense of being more than Man, which is the touchstone of the highest excellence, is to be found in mathematics as surely as poetry." Bertrand Russell
