lowkey easiest yr to get into at penrith is year 10 because they take so many more people than the other yrs. even entering into yr 10 is really difficult, like all the transfers in my yr are still really behind the rest of the cohort bc the teachers assume we already have learnt everything they cover. obviously staying at ur old school would suck, but id definitely reccommend trying out for st marys senior, which is easier to get into and caters towards high achieveing students
i applied to penrith this year for entry into years didn't do well, although i reckon i done well for math because it's my weak spot abstract reasoning actually got me though :') i don't think ill be reapplying for penrith. Any other schools to recommend?

Opinions on Chatswood? Sefton? (less so Tempe, Parra, Cherrybrook Tech)

As someone in your cohort who transferred from Chatswood to Sydney Boys this year i'd say you should move to schools depending on :
1. what atar you are aiming for
2. the school's proximity.

from my experience at chatswood, Chatswood High actually has very nice facilities and the canteen is stacked as. They also have 2 selective classes "A' and "B" and one gifted and talented class which is often better than the B class. If you are aiming for 90+ i'd say you have a decent shot at chatswood cs ik some of the chatswood kids and theyre by far smarter than kids at sydney boys so thats one id recommend.

Honestly if you really just put in the work next year. e.g get grades up, study ahead, join some clubs and do some competitions and sport you could realistically get into any school apart from the top 20.

Fort Street im pretty sure you only need to write an essay for the testing phase.
Manly is extremely easy but the difficulty might be subjective but i'd say manly has a good rank and is not difficult to get into

My recommendations are Manly 1, Fort St 2, Chatswood 3. Purely based on rankings.

Hope this helps, ask me if you have any other questions

You don't think prior academic performance and extracirriculars matter for the test?
...
bc it's a test? I mean sure academic achievements may matter but I don't think extracurricular would be needed in that. sorry if I seem rude I'm just stating my opinion

For edutest especially, you want to be doing the practice tests for the years above e.g if ure applying for y8 do the y9 practice tests or even y10. As someone who did the edutest twice for transferring, the vocabulary is inconceivably difficult. The entire english section is so much harder than the practice tests allocated for that grade. However for maths it should be extremely easy unless math is truly your weak point. I would also advise you to read non-fiction books just to enhance your comprehension for the test. Just out of curiosity, what school do you go to?
thank you
r u talking about public school for the last question?

Ok - I see where your coming from.
It's just that although your academics and extracirriculars don't affect your test itself, they do SEVERELY, and I mean it affect your potential denial/acceptance into a school. This year, I was downgraded from an acceptance to a reserve just because my report wasn't up to standard, but my extracirriculars and test performance compensated for such. If you were lacking in report and extracirriculars than that may also be a reason for some raised eyebrows and a lower ranking overall.

(~390 rank school) Just for context, i'm aiming for mid-90s for my atar (tryna be a lawyer) I live in black town but travel isn't an issue. I have some ec's lined up to start next year as well as comps, not big in sport but i'll see what I can do. My weak spot is math (due to lacking foundations, bad memory ) planning on revising Cambridge textbooks over holidays. Not many quality hard-copy resources except for some abstract reasoning booklets by bonds. Got some e-books to study over holidays (mainly fictional narratives abt murder/mystery by Blake Pierce & Riley Dark). passionate for my clubs too.
grades 4 mains
english - A
Math - B-ish
Science - A
HSIE - (usually) A
other than at I typically get around B's for my other subjects a few A's too. Within the top 5 in my cohort.

Commendable Acheivements & Participations
CSIRO gen ( yr8, and 2nd place in Yr 9 )
Aus Geography comp
Game Changer
Imagine Cup
WSU fast Forward
WSU Kirby cup
Peer Support
SRC
Showcase
South-Indian Dance Group (in-school)

For 2025
(inclusive of all previous except peer support, SRC, Showcase, dance group)
Harvard Crimson essay comp, debating, Aus sci comp (pls if yk any other lmk)

I'm transition leader at my school rn, so I get to be involved with all the enrollment kind of things to see who's coming into the school new, and we have gotten people still accepting places and like rejecting places now even though offers came out nearly a month ago, so it definitely depends on the school.
Just wondering if you’ve gotten any movement around Year 8 for next year please?

Given this, would you still reccomment Fort Street & Manly > also applied of Penrith last year got mid ~50% dragged down bc abstract reasoning was way off :')

aw yikes
Fort Street and Manly from what i've heard are usually harder to get into than Penrith. If you got mid 50%, which wouldn't get you into Penrith or even reserve, then you might wanna try upping your score before considering fort street or manly.
