Hi all,

Could someone please tell me what Yeats unique philosophy on life is?

Also, how does his writing reflect most of his personal thoughts and emotions?

Just needs to be a few sentences.

Thanks

basically, his unique philosophy on life centres around his belief in a series of interlocking two thousand-year gyres which was a concept far removed from the conventional perspective on historical progress. mention his use of the gyre as a symbol in his works, and also read "The Second COming" and /or his work "A Vision" for more info. also mention his pespective on human existence as in the Byzantine poems (do your own research!)

as for the writing, you need to come to your own conclusions, seriously. some pointers: use of ambivalence (easter 1916), basis on the turbulent Irish and world history (easter 1916 & The second coming), use of symbols (e.g. in contrasting the temporary with the permanent in Sailing to Byzantium) and link all this with his philosophies.

have fun!

Writing about someone's philosophy in life would take up more than a few sentences!

Read through his poems and think about it. Yeats believed in fate and the concept of pre-destiny. This is shown in 'When You are Old', 'An Irish Airman Foresees his Death' and 'The Second Coming'.
