that's a pretty sweet list killyridols, certainly the best since the first page.

also, i'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're a member of a chooch-a-bahn band.
aw shucks
but nope
last time i went to one of those kinda gigs (or any gig full stop) was when i was in year 9, i think it was puppy love (death;wolf, kiosk and ywn) at china heights. i am so out of the loop : ( . i dunno, i had limited friends that would come with me when i was 14 or whatever, so i stopped going and forgot about it, but will go to shows again in a few months. you part of that scene?

nah, i take pride in not being part of any scene. not that i look down on people who are.

i just guessed you were part of c-a-b based on your name. also, putting madonna, lil' jon and throbbing gristle on the same list reeks of DIY iconoclasm. and i mean that in a good way, of course!

Quite a nice list, kyi. Dr Octagon...

Think my list needs a bit of a revamp, which I'll get to once exams are done.

Well for Can, Tago Mago is the obvious choice - pretty much definitive and Halleluwah is undeniable. Future Days is also really nice, and Monster Movie isn't mentioned much but Yoo Do Right is pretty epic. Slot in Ege Bamyasi somewhere there and that's about all I've heard from them.

As for other krautrock, maybe try some Faust (Faust IV is all I've got by them, but it's fantastic), Neu! (s/t), This Heat (Deceit)...

runtlocks would have more to say about this than me, lol.
Err ahh I'd say just try Tago Mago out first. The first half of it, at least

listening to some of tago mago now. definitely not what i expected. for some reason, i guess it's just their name (sounds kinda post punk) but i was expecting like something less psychedelic and more suicide-y. later tracks on tago mago are a bit less easy on the ears but i don't mind it so far. i like
*thumbs up*

killyridols, you should check out can's debut 'monster movie', which is more proto-punky, and while i don't like it as much as their holy trinity (tago/ege bamyasi/future days) i'll go out on a limb and say you might like it the most out of their stuff. only one track "mary, mary..." is kinda boring and in sync with the jam bands of the day, but the rest is primitive bliss.

yah i used to be a sonic youth fan (but i guess that's obv. from my name) AND that album was my fave. but i dunno, i think the music is too 'cool-sounding' for me now. i've also been turned off them because i went to see some dodgy bands at menai youth centre a year ago (because i was obliged, not because i wanted to) and this guy that was playing was wearing a freaking FLUORO coloured 'goo' album cover tshirt while his bandmate had on a dreamtheatre tshirt. HOW EMBARRASSING!
anyways point of the story is, general pants has ruined sonic youth for me, and i never listen to it, but i love that album :p
i should update my list
