Hitler realises he has to be on good terms with Italy before he can establish an Anschluss (unification of Germany and Austria).

1943 - Allied tactic of island hopping pushed Japan back thousands of kilometres; total blockade of Japan put into effect.

Japan moves troops into southern Indochina.
USA place total ban on oil exports to Japan and Japan gets all angry because they've only got about a year and half's worth of oil left.
Japan bombs Pearl Harbour on Sunday 7th December in an attempt to keep the US out of the war for two years.
Roosevelt declares war the next day.
By this stage Japan is quickly taking over South East Asia (they entered Thailand the day after Pearl Harbour I think).
